It’s a joy to watch your kids learn and grow. However, it’s also important that you reach your goals. While at home and practicing social distancing, don’t forget that your education is just as important as your child’s. Finding time to study is crucial. Make studying work for everyone by doing it together. Here are three benefits of studying with your kids.

Help each other learn and grow

As an adult learner, by just enrolling in online school you’re showing your kids that anything is possible. That’s also true when you study together. Doing school work side-by-side is a great way for your child or children to pick up better study habits. Seeing their parent(s) studying as hard as they are can encourage them and give them the push they need.

Setting up the right environment to study in is the first step to success. Teaching your children the importance of learning in a designated study area that’s TV- and distraction-free is an important lesson. You can also teach them study tricks, like using flash cards, effective note taking, or how to comprehend study material. Working together can help both of you learn and grow. You’ll become more patient as you help them succeed while reaching your goals.

Stay motivated

There are a lot of benefits of having a study partner. The most important benefit, however, is that you have someone to motivate you and keep you going. Procrastination can creep up at any time. Especially as you study from home, you may be tempted to clean, take care of chores you’ve been neglecting, or even just lay around and watch TV. By studying together, you’re keeping each other on task and motivated.

Watch each other succeed

Helping each other succeed and reach academic goals can be rewarding in these uncertain times. You’re a study role model for your children, and when you succeed they succeed. Students who receive support from their parents feel more confident about school. You’ll feel better having helped your child succeed and taking this time to bond with your child over education.
