Lesson 1: Medical Fundamentals and Perspectives on Medical Transcription
An overview of the transcriptionist’s role, a review of selected rules of English grammar and sentence structure, and their importance within the field of medical transcription.
Lesson 2: Style Guide
A presentation of correct ways to abbreviate, capitalize, punctuate, hyphenate and form the plural and possessive forms of words when transcribing. ou will also be introduced to the number system, spelling and proofreading guidelines, the construction of business letters and the use of reference material for medical transcription.
Lesson 3: Transcribing for Dermatology, Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology
An introduction to the structure and function of the skin, ears, nose, throat and eyes. Included will be information on the types of questions asked during an examination, related terms and areas to be aware of when transcribing. This is the first lesson in which you will transcribe from dictation.
Lesson 4: Transcribing for Cardiology and Pulmonary Medicine
How to recognize the types of terms, reports and information needed when transcribing for cardiology and pulmonology.
Lesson 5: Transcribing for Gastroenterology and Endocrinology

Lesson 6: Transcribing for Urology and OB-GYN
How to recognize the types of terms, reports and information needed when transcribing for urology and obstetrics and gynecology.

Lesson 8: Transcribing for Psychiatry, Pathology and Radiology
Understanding the content of various psychiatry, pathology and radiology reports, as well as recognizing the terms and abbreviations used in each.
