Ashworth College Announces New Veterinary Technician Degree Program

on Thursday, 30 June 2016.

Ashworth College (www.ashworthcollege.edu), a leading provider of accredited, online educational programs, recently launched its new online Veterinary Technician program. Graduates will receive their Associate of Applied Science degree along with the skills and experience required to pursue a career in the always in-demand field of animal care.

Ashworth’s new program builds on its existing veterinary assisting program and provides students with the latest information on laboratory procedures, surgical preparation, and imaging. Courses include lessons on terminology, anatomy, physiology, behavior, restraint, nutrition, and both large and small animal nursing procedures.

As part of Ashworth’s Veterinary Technician program, students will complete 270 hours of clinical experience with a local veterinary practice. The ability to transfer the skills learned in our online courses in a real-world environment prepares students for post-graduation career opportunities in this growing and rewarding field.

This new program is one of the most affordable veterinary technician programs in the U.S. and offers flexible payment options that fit a variety of financial situations.

Ashworth’s comprehensive curriculum will enable our graduates to turn their passion for animals into a viable career.

“Veterinary technicians provide a range of health care for animals, under the supervision of a veterinarian.  They provide nursing care or emergency first aid to injured animals, administer anesthesia, collect lab samples, perform lab tests, take and develop x-rays, and administer medications and vaccines. The program provides the knowledge and background to develop these skills and succeed in the workplace,” said Dr. Margi Sirois, Ashworth’s Director of Veterinary Technician Programs.
