Medical Billing and Claims
Career Diploma

Career Profile

Medical billers perform a variety of duties in medical offices. They may review charts, file claims, update invoices, record data, consult with doctors, assist patients and interact with insurers by phone. If you'd enjoy helping others, being an important part of the health delivery team and working with medical professionals in an office, clinic, hospital or insurance firm, then medical billing is the field for you.

Changing government regulations and the growth of managed care have increased the amount of paperwork involved in filing insurance claims. This has overwhelmed physicians and resulted in huge demand for medical billers. Job prospects are especially good for medical billers employed through temporary help agencies or professional service firms.
