Kenneth Seymore
Hometown: Round Rock, TX
Program: Gourmet Cooking and Catering
After six years in the Army, Kenneth spent the next nine years in computer technology until falling victim to a layoff. "For years I've been working just to pay bills and provide for my son," he said. "I never really thought about doing what I enjoy."
It's his son Kenneth credits for helping turn his passion for cooking into a career. His son was born with Arthrogryposis, which as resulted in a limited range of motion and poor muscle development. "My son is primarily tube-fed but can eat certain food orally. After feeling the effects of rising prices, I started preparing things for him to eat at school and not limit him to foods from the toddler section found at the grocery store."
"I'm excited to be studying at Ashworth College. I've always enjoyed creating meals in the kitchen and I believe this is my calling – an opportunity to help others. Especially the special needs community."
