Bryan CarverBryan Carver

Bryan Carver teaches high school science courses in both the general and college prep diploma programs, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Marine Science, Environmental Science and Physical Science. Bryan also teaches Health and the Introduction to Computers courses for high school programs.

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Science Education Degree from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining the faculty of Ashworth in 2005 Bryan taught for six years in the Georgia public school system in Atlanta and Savannah.

From childhood Bryan always enjoyed learning how things work. This natural love of science drew him to teaching. He derives genuine satisfaction from explaining everyday scientific principles and transferring this knowledge to give his students a better understanding of science.

"The most exciting part of teaching is when you're trying to help a student and you see the light go on when they finally understand a concept, especially if they've been struggling with it," Bryan says. "When they suddenly make the connection then I know I've done my job."

Bryan believes that the distance education experience offers an ideal alternative for many science students. "No two students learn the same way," he says. "A traditional classroom setting just doesn't work for all students. Certain people learn better moving at their own pace, not having to sit confined at a desk or deal with a set schedule."

Bryan particularly enjoys interacting with his students. "My favorite student is the one who emails and asks lots of questions. I have some students that I email with constantly. I always tell them, I'd rather answer ten emails a day then never hear from you."
