2007 DETC Outstanding Graduate

Peter had been out of high school for several years. He had propelled himself into a successful career as a personal trainer. He even earned four national personal training certifications. To further broaden his knowledge of the field of fitness, he took two distance learning courses from Ashworth.

Although he found his career training valuable, he realized that staying competitive in his field required a college degree. Ashworth College was the logical place to begin. This program augmented his knowledge of physiology and anatomy with a study of the subjects he needed most: management, business and administration.

Peter thoroughly enjoyed his college education. He made rapid progress with the help of online exams and studying day and night on weekends. In addition, he worked 80 hours a week in his personal training studio - the top floor of a physical therapy facility. By the time he graduated – with an admirable 3.61 GPA – he and his partner, a physical therapist, had bought the entire 20,000 square foot facility and transformed it into a highly acclaimed, full service health club. Today, he uses his expertise to supervise the activities of 29 employees. And he is pursuing his bachelor's degree.
