1998 DETC Outstanding Graduate

Linda wanted to stay at home with her children, but she needed to contribute to the household income, too. She enrolled in the medical transcription program and received her diploma in nine short months.

She says that her program helped bridge the gap between family and career. Wanting to work for herself and at home, she received her first client, a radiation oncology practice, just two weeks after graduation. She added that the course paid for itself that that first month.

"I know I'll always have a job and a secure future. I can go anywhere in the world and know I'm doing medical transcription the right way. The work I do is important. Accurate medical records are vital to both patients and doctors. Because of my training I'm able to do everything I wanted to do in life."
