Deborah Keen
Hometown: Broken Arrow, OK
Program: Paralegal Studies
1999 DETC Outstanding Graduate
Although she was primarily a homemaker, Deborah also held various part-time jobs throughout the years. When she enrolled in Ashworth's paralegal program, she found that she could successfully hold down a full time job, raise three children and still study in her spare time.
Deborah's plan was to work part-time for an attorney. However, another firm was so impressed with her paralegal training, they called her three times a day, offering her more money, until she finally consented to take the full-time position. She started work the same month she received her diploma.
A member of the Dallas Area Paralegal Assocation, Deborah also volunteers at pet adoptions and is a wildlife activist.
"I enjoy my career. I find researching criminal backgrounds, motor vehicle histories and worker's compensation claims interesting. Without my paralegal training, I would never have landed this position."
