EFA ICT FEST Quiz draws a winner!
St. John's, Antigua; Friday, April 23, 2010: Gem Ferris is the ecstatic winner of the Education for Advancement Antigua Barbuda ICT FEST Quiz, beating out 19 other entries submitted at the EFA booth during the 6th annual festival, hosted by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science and Technology, on September 16th and 17th, 2009.
Ferris plans on making use of the scholarship initiative in 2010, by pursuing a Professional Career Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Ashworth College.
"To be honest I did not think I would win anything," she admits. "But there is always room to improve oneself. I have been working in the Tourism business for over fifteen years and would like to really get my papers, improve and move on in this area."
The Hotel Management program comprises 20 easy to follow yet challenging comprehensive lessons, which cover marketing strategies, new trends, time management, problem solving, human resource and a host of other exciting topics to create a well-rounded individual.
EFA Antigua and Barbuda's exhibition showcased ICT as the platform for distance learning, through internationally accredited institutions, with access to programs of study from high school to the PHD level. EFA Antigua Barbuda congratulates Gem Ferris on this scholarship opportunity and will continue to partner in similar initiatives to invest in the development of the nation's human capital.
Education for Advancement works in partnership with the UK based University of Leicester and Ashworth College in the USA to offer flexible, affordable education options to complement, in scope and variety, already available programmes in the region.
