Ashworth College Bake Sale to Help Fight Hunger
NORCROSS, Georgia – March 5, 2010 – “Ashworthy Causes”, Ashworth College’s (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) on-going community outreach program, has kicked off its latest fundraising drive, Great American Bake Sale, in support of Share Our Strength.
During the month of March, the Georgia based online college administration and staff will host bake sales and monies collected will be used to fight hunger among American youth.
“The outpour of support to recent earthquake victims in Haiti and Chile is inspirational. It’s equally important to not overlook families in our own backyard that also need assistance,” said Jeannie Brady, Ashworth Director of Human Resources. “As an educational institution, we appreciate the need for families to have all tools necessary to succeed - and sometimes that includes food and proper nourishment. The Ashworth staff is extremely excited to do our part.”
According to Share Our Strength, while the United States is the world’s wealthiest nation, more than 12 million children are at risk of hunger and one in six have limited or uncertain access to the nutritious foods they need to develop to their full potential. To date, Share Our Strength programs have served more than 40.2 million meals to American children.
Known as a leading provider of nationally accredited online education programs, Ashworth College prides itself in its community outreach endeavors and regularly supports several organizations to include Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army and March of Dimes.
