NORCROSS, Georgia – August 5, 2008 – Ashworth College and Careerbuilder.com® will host job search workshops for graduates and their guests attending the 2008 ceremony.
Ashworth College, a leader in distance education, will host recent graduates from each of its high school, career school and College diploma and degree programs. Pre-ceremony activities, including the Careerbuilder.com® workshop, will be held at the College's corporate headquarters in Norcross, GA, August 8, 2008. The ceremony will follow on August 9 at the neighboring Hilton Hotel. Events are only open to ticket holders.
"Attending a live ceremony has special significance for many of our graduates," said Jon Bouffler, Ashworth Executive Vice President. "Some are changing careers. Some never completed high school. Some are military personnel completing their degrees while being deployed around the world."
"The Internet has changed the way people find jobs," added Bouffler. "Now that they have completed their education we want to be sure to give them as many tools as we can so that they can succeed. We are fortunate to partner with an expert like Careerbuilder.com®."
Workshop topics will include:
- Interview skills
- Salary negotiation
- What makes an effective resume
- Job outlook for recent graduates
- Using the Internet as part of your job search
Other activities will include opportunities for graduates to meet the Ashworth faculty and staff, a commencement address by Mike Lambert, Executive Director of the Distance Education and Training Council, and a post-ceremony reception
