Kosava resident graduates from Ashworth College

NORCROSS, Georgia - April 15, 2008 - Distance education has no boundaries as evidenced by Lularta Aliu, a recent Ashworth College graduate. A native of Kosova (formerly part of Yugoslavia), this Human Resources Management graduate traveled more than 6,500 miles from his/her current home of Baghdad, Iraq to receive his/her Associates degree during the August 9 Graduation ceremonies held in Norcross, GA.

"I have been on an overseas assignment in Baghdad since 2005," said Aliu. "I support the US Mission in Iraq as well as civilians that serve there." A civilian him/herself, Aliu works in Human Resources.

"Living and working in an environment like Iraq is stressful. Not only has my studies benefited me and my career, but it has often has taken my mind away from the disturbance military rockets and gun shots that you hear on daily basis," he/she explained.

Why did you decide to enroll in the Ashworth program?

A friend of mine is an Ashworth College graduate and introduced me to the school. Although my friend was enrolled in different program, after some research I decided that it was the right fit for me.

What did you like most about your program of study?

The program study of this school is well thought out before it is brought to the hands of its students. What I most I liked about it was the research that was included in the curriculum. I enjoyed exploring and studying this information before taking the tests.

How easy was it to fit online/home study into your busy work and/or family life?

This is an infesting question. I was working and studying at the same time. My job requires long hours. Ashworth was one of the rare Universities that offered flexibility on study time. Also, a lot of time I carried my books while traveling away from my overseas assignment to visit family or traveled on vacation.

Have you been using the skills you learned in your program in your career?

Absolutely! I was working in the human resources before I joined Ashworth College. During the time of study until the day of graduation it has helped me improve my career mainly since I deal with employee's concerns, problems, complaints etc. It's been particularly beneficial in the areas of organizational behavior, labor relations, employee relations and much more. It's helped me better comprehend the nature of the field I was working on. I have become a professional while studying and practicing the field of Human Resources Management.
